Baby's First Christmas

Although it now seems like a distant memory, I couldn't miss the opportunity to document Henry's first Christmas here on my blog. During my childhood, the festive period was the most magical and enchanting time, so now that Matt and I have a little one, we thought it would be a good time to start some of our own Christmas traditions.

Last Christmas we bought a beautiful white dove tree decoration with William and Noah's name on, so we thought it would be a nice idea to buy a special item for each of our children. We found a lovely glass bauble which we had engraved with Henry's name, which is now hung beside his brothers ornament.

I've always found the Lemax Christmas Village displays in garden centres absolutely magical, so we decided to start a tradition whereby we build our own collection and add to it each year. We had a browse of everything available and chose Santa's Workshop as our first piece. The music, lights and movement delighted Henry and he loved looking at it! I can't wait to add to it, and it can be something our children look forward to when we bring it out each year.

I couldn't resist buying a number of Christmas books for Henry. Although he's still too young to truly appreciate them, it's not too early to start reading to him, so we enjoyed some time looking through them together, and of course, The Night Before Christmas shall be read every Christmas Eve before bedtime!

We spent Christmas at my parents house, where Henry was spoiled with lots of precious gifts from the family. It was a lovely kind of chaos with all his cousins around too, with masses of wrapping paper strewn about the house. I thought nothing could be better than experiencing Christmas as a child, but Christmas when you have your own children is even better!
