Oxford Weekend & Bicester Village

With the hottest weather we've seen all year taking place last weekend, my husband and I seized the day and decided to take a spontaneous trip to Oxford to revel in the rare glorious weather for the weekend. Saturday was spent exploring the historic and quaint town, having delicious baguettes for lunch, strolling through the University parks, walking along the river (what started as a gentle stroll through the park ended as a 3 hour trek through woodland and riverbanks, getting lost and wondering if we'd ever find our way back!) and ended with dinner at Jamie's Italian and snuggling down at our hotel to eat sweeties and watch X Factor!

Sunday we began our day with a hearty meal (cream tea for me, full English breakfast for my husband!) and made our way to Bicester Village. I had high hopes and visions of finishing the day laden with shopping bags (I even dared hope I might find the Mulberry purse I so covet) but sadly, the only one who walked away with anything was Matt, who stocked up on shirts, polos and jumpers from Ralph Lauren. The CCO was a particular disappointment. I had pictured stands of makeup, all the MAC makeup a girl could ever wish for from bygone collections, but instead, I was faced with a store 99% full with perfume from unknown brands and a teeny section of makeup, none of which took my fancy. Better luck next time! Overall it was a really lovely weekend and it's inspired us to take more spontaneous breaks away.
